Fall Intern – Commercial Real Estate

Monday–Thursday ~32 hours/week

$18-$20/hour

Why This Internship?

Looking to break into real estate investment or finance? This internship gives you real-world exposure to asset management, financial analysis, and investment strategy—not just coffee runs. You’ll be part of the team, learning how high-level decisions are made and contributing to actual business outcomes.

What You’ll Do

As an ARTISAN Intern, you’ll support the Acquisition, Asset Management and Property Management teams with everything from data analysis to strategic reporting. You’ll gain insight into how we operate our properties, make investment decisions, and drive performance across our portfolio.

Your role will include:

• Helping prepare performance reports for investors, lenders, and internal teams
• Tracking financial & operational metrics for our properties
• Assisting in the budgeting and cash flow forecasting process
• Supporting acquisition/disposition projects and investment research
• Participating in cross-functional meetings with property management and acquisitions
• Organizing key data and maintaining portfolio files
• On-site due diligence

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for smart, driven, and curious early-career professionals who are excited to dive into the real estate world and make meaningful contributions from day one. Ideally, you’re:

• A current student or recent grad in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, or a related field
• Strong in Excel and analytical thinking
• Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable juggling multiple tasks
• A team player with clear communication skills
• Passionate about learning the ins and outs of commercial real estate
• Prior internship or real estate experience is a bonus—not a requirement

Tools & Skills You’ll Build

• Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and real estate reporting tools
• Exposure to property management platforms (Yardi, Appfolio, Entrata)
• Real-world financial modeling and portfolio performance tracking
• Understanding how decisions are made at the investor and asset manager level

The Logistics

• Location: Des Moines, IA (In-person)
• Schedule: Monday–Thursday | ~32 hours/week
• Compensation: $20/hour
• Travel: 5–10% (with potential for more during special projects)
