At COCAS & ME Living , we provide housing, therapy, case management, and recovery programs to help individuals and families rebuild after domestic violence, incarceration, homelessness, and substance abuse recovery .
The Intake & Eligibility Specialist is the front door of our services , ensuring that every client gets a smooth, welcoming entry into our programs while keeping compliance and billing requirements fully met.
The Intake & Eligibility Specialist will conduct intake interviews, verify program eligibility, gather required documentation, and enter client information into our systems. This role ensures clients are connected to the right services quickly, and that all Medicaid, Medicare, insurance, and grant requirements are captured for billing and compliance.
Serve as the first point of contact for new clients (phone, in-person, virtual).
Conduct intake assessments to collect demographics, history, and service needs.
Verify insurance eligibility, Medicaid/Medicare status, and other funding sources .
Ensure all required forms are signed and uploaded into client files.
Coordinate with case managers and billing staff to ensure services are billable from day one.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA .
Provide compassionate support to clients during the onboarding process.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare eligibility verification systems .
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and data entry systems .
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work with sensitive information.
Compassion and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations.
High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
12 years experience in intake, eligibility, medical billing, or social services .
Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems or case management software preferred.
Nonprofit or healthcare experience a plus.
Pay: $16 $21 per hour (based on experience).
