SCOPE As part of the R&D team, the Power Electronics Engineer will development of products, such as motor drives, switch mode power supplies, power factor correction units, etc.
Responsibilities - Design high-power motor controllers, power regulators, high efficiency AC-DC power converters, DC-DC converters, synchronous rectifiers and battery management solutions.
- Design hardware for motor control systems utilizing embedded processors, DSPs, memory devices, OPAMPs, A/D and D/A converters, as well as other peripheral devices such as RS232, RS485, CAN bus, ModBus, USB interfaces, Ethernet and I2C interfaces as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Support new product introduction to manufacturing and through product lifecycle.
- Design PCBs for motor control hardware utilizing techniques to prevent EMC and EMI.
- Designing and selecting hardware for high temperature environments.
- Capture designs utilizing DxDesigner, Allegro for design and schematic capture
- Design PCB layout, to control of heat and transients.
- Robust testing / validation / documentation methodology for design verification.
- Supervise and support junior engineers.
Skills / Requirements - US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
- A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or equivalent professional experience is reqiured.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or related focus is preferred.
- Minumum 7 years of proven experience working experience in power electronics engineering is reqiured.
- Advanced knowledge of electric drives and electrical circuits (Altium Preferred).
- Familiarity with various networking protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, Controller Area Network (CAN), Bluetooth.
- Experience with integration of military systems/standards is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work well within a team.
- Must be able to speak/read/write English.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
